Are you ready for this years excitement? We have teamed up with Tri-C and various groups across the city to bring to you Cleveland’s Hip Hop Homecoming: a week’s worth of hip hop activities, starting on Monday the 13th through the Sunday 20th all across Cleveland Ohio. Students of Tri-C will be able to register for free attendance at select Hip Hop Homecoming events. Official Hip Hop Homecoming events are marked with a *, other events are stand alone events promoted in association with the Hip Hop Homecoming.
Monday Night Raw: Location TBA | 9p - 2am | Part one of our Hip Hop Showcase Series. Artists will be selected to perform at this Hip Hop Homecoming kick off event.
*Panel Discussion: Tri-C Metro Main Stage | 3p | Panel discussion led by Dr. Valerie Brown and Dr. Simona Epuran in the Mainstage Theater. This round table will consist of topics that will draw various opinions from one person to the next, allowing panelists to engage with each other in vigorous yet constructive banter. (Free Event)
*Homecoming Concert: 12p - 3p | Tri-C Courtyard | Our Hip Hop Homecoming concert is a free outdoor event taking place in the Tri-C Metro campus Courtyard. Featuring international recording artist Twista, Ray Jr, Big Mucci and Preme Dibiasi. Before the concert there will be an open mic cypher where artists can bring it back to where it all started, the park! Come enjoy some great music and good company.
*Audio Attack: MC and Producer Battle: Tri-C Metro Campus Auditorium | 3p - 6p | Immediately following the Homecoming concert we will be back in the Auditorium for the MC and producer battle. This fun and entertaining event will draw a number of students and Clevelanders alike - providing a new and exciting match of wits, both over the mic and on the beat. Online submissions will be taken for both producers and MCs to be selected for competition. The best of the best will be matched up and given tickets to sell. (Free to registered Tri-C Students and OHHA weekend pass holders - $10 ticket/door.)
*Learn 2 Earn Workshops: Tri-C Metro Campus Various Classrooms | 1p - 4p | Intimate learning experiences where lectures and workshops take place, giving the attendees hands on experience on the given subject. Classes include publishing, producing, engineering, DJ, copyright, team building, media/broadcasting, marketing, songwriting. The 9 classes will run simultaneously in the 3 hour time block. Classes are grouped based on relevancy and relation to the other topics. (Free to registered Tri-C Students and OHHA weekend pass holders - $25 door to public for 3 workshops of their choice.)
*Bulkley House Mixer: 3657 Prospect Ave E | 6p - 11p | Join us for this one of a kind RSVP only event at the creative spaces of the Bulkley House. This 4 story historical building on Prospect Ave has been renovated into a HD music studio, photography studio and idea lab. Anyone interested in attending this event must RSVP. Ages 21+ with valid ID. (Free with RSVP)
*Learn 2 Earn Music Conference: 12p - 6p I Tri-C Metro Campus Theater | The music business is as complex as it is lucrative. The Learn 2 Earn Music Conference brings panelists and speakers from around the country to discuss the important behind the scenes aspects of the music business, giving artists the tools they need to succeed. (Free to registered Tri-C Students and OHHA weekend pass holders - $25 tickets/door.)
*OHHA Industry Showcase: 6p - 2am | Agora Theater | Artists will compete head to head on stage to win the prize of the OHHA tour with all dates paying $100 and hotel stay included. Taking place during the weekend of the awards, it is the biggest underground showcase in the state. (Free to registered Tri-C Students and OHHA weekend pass holders - $10 tickets/door.)
*Ohio Hip Hop Awards: Cleveland Performance Arts Center | 3615 Euclid Ave, Cleveland, OH 44115 | 4p - 10p | Come join us for the Ten Year Anniversary of the Ohio Hip Hop Awards. Industry professionals from around the region congregate to recognize the achievements of the state’s hardworking Hip Hop professionals. (Free to registered Tri-C Students and OHHA weekend pass holders - $25/$50.)
